National Contest for Logo and Slogan for the Ministry


The Ministry organised a national contest to decide upon the logo and a slogan through the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), New Delhi.

The contest was designed as a participatory exercise, wherein all Indian nationals were invited to design a logo and a slogan. The contest was advertised in the national dailies in all the regions of the country. About 900 entries, from all over the country, were received and were adjudged by an eminent panel consisting of experts from various disciplines.

Shri Babu Lal Marandi, Hon’ble Minister of State, gave away the prizes to the winners in a prize distribution ceremony held on 08.12.99 at INTACH premises. Hon’ble Minister also inaugurated an exhibition displaying the selected entries and a bound summary of slogans received for the contest. Shri Vinod Vaish, Special Secretary of the Ministry, was the Guest of Honour in the function, which was attended by other senior officials of the Ministry.

The first prize-winner was awarded a cash award of Rs.30,000, a gold plated trophy and a certificate of merit. The second one was awarded a cash award of Rs.20,000, a silver plated trophy and a certificate of merit. The third prize carried a cash award of Rs.10,000, a copper plated trophy and a certificate of merit. Three other consolation prizes of Rs.5,000 each and a certificate of merit were also awarded during the function.
