Due to existence of hard pan at relatively shallow depths varying 0.6 m to 1.24 m, it is apprehended that after starting of full fledged irrigation, there is going to be waterlogging of the root zone as the excess portion of the applied water will not be able to percolate down freely. A plan comprising details about the proposed vertical drainage, surface drainage and bio-drainage should be submitting to this ministry within three months from the date of issue of this letter.

Construction of Tama Chung Chung-Taksing road

Adequate provision for infrastructure facilities including water supply fuel and sanitation must be ensured for construction workers during the construction phase of the project in order to avoid any damage to the environment.

Appropriate measures must be taken while undertaking digging activities to avoid any likely degradation of water quality.

Tamil Nadu road Sector Project -Phase-I

 

Cuddalore to Tuticorin (excluding the stretch passing through Karaikal)

The portion of the road passing through Karaikal shall not be taken up under this project till specific environmental clearance for this portion has been obtained by the Government of Pondicherry.

It should be ensured that only 27 metre of road width is acquired in rural areas and 17 metre in urban areas as right of way.

Maintenance of plantation should be carried out till the crown of the trees is achieved above the grazing level.

Mining should be started from top of the hillock by making benches instead of starting from the bottom of the hill. Excavation should not go beyond the ground level.

No blasting is permitted.
