National Environment Awareness Campaign 2000-2001


The National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC), being organised by the Ministry of Environment and Forests every year since 1986 with the objective of creating environmental awareness at the national level, is being continued this year also. The theme of NEAC – 2000-2001 is:

"KEEP OUR ENVIRONMENT CLEAN AND GREEN"

Within this theme, attention shall be focussed on the following sub-themes:

i) Keeping our sources of drinking water clean and protected

ii) Ensuring proper management of garbage and other solid waste

iii) Control of air-pollution

iv) Protection of trees and plantation, including nurturing of new trees

v) Sustainable lifestyles

Proposals are invited from registered Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs)/Voluntary Organisations, Educational Institutions, State Government Departments, etc. working in the field of environment and sustainable development for conducting various activities such as Seminars/Workshops, Camps/Padyatras/Rallies, Competitions, Festivals etc. for creating environmental awareness on the theme / sub-themes mentioned above amongst the masses. The guidelines and proforma for submission for proposals can be obtained free of cost from the Regional Resource Agency designated for your State/UT, mentioned in the list below, either in person or by post:

The last date for submitting proposals complete in all respects, to the concerned Regional Resource Agency (RRA) is 14.08.2000 (14th August, 2000). Proposals received after the last date will not be entertained. It may be noted that the decision regarding approval / rejection of proposals including the quantum of financial assistance to be provided will be taken by the Ministry and not by RRAs. Since the Ministry is providing financial assistance to all the RRAs to met the expenditure on printing of proforma and for coordinating the campaign, the applicants need not make any payment to the RRAs for either the proforma or any other services.
