On receipt of information regarding illegal trade of snake skin articles, a raid was jointly organised by the Wildlife Regional Office, Mumbai and the Wildlife Division, Thane in Colaba area on 1st April 1999 at 07.00 p.m. One offender, namely, Raju Mariyappa was arrested on 1st April 99 and produced in the Court of law on 2nd April 99. The Court has granted bail to the accused. Two cobra skins alongwith 23 lady's bags, 15 wallets, 3 belts and one pair of lady's shoe made of snake skin were seized. The seized materials are in the possession of State Wildlife Division, Thane.
