Apeejay Participates in Global Environment Meet

STUDENTS FROM Apeejay School, Faridabad participated in the 16th Caretakers Environment International and 2nd Global Environment Youth Convention held at Pracatinat, Italy. The convention aimed at creating awareness among youth on vital issues pertaining to the Earth. Caretakers, an international organisation concerned with issues relating to environment, COREP, Italy and IIIEE, Sweden jointly organised the convention. The topic for the convention was 'Sustainable Mobility and Information Communication Technology'. The Apeejay team conducted a pilot study on rural Haryana. The Youth Declaration will be presented at the Earth Summit to be held in Johannesburg later this year.

The Acting High Commissioner of South Africa, H.E. Desmond Monde Nxiweni was the chief guest at the celebrations of the 84th birthday of Nelson Mandela organised by the Africa Club of Bluebells International School, Kailash.

Among other eminent guests present were Ms. Mazi Bako, Third Secretary Political Affairs and Yuko Makarov, Deputy Head, Russian Cultural Centre. Under the able guidance of Principal, Mrs. Suman Kumar, the school has always shown solidarity to the freedom struggle led by Dr. Mandela ever since the struggle against apartheid started. The students presented the birthday wishes with their creative cards, posters and self-composed poems. The grand finale of the programme was an African dance presented by students from Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Namibia and Angola.

An Orientation Programme for Physics PGT's conducted by the CBSE was held at Bal Bharati Public School New Rajender Nagar. The Principal, Mr L.V. Sehgal, welcomed the distinguished subject experts who enlightened the teachers on the 'Principles of Communication and New Trends in class XII Physics Question Paper'. In his introductory Speech, Mr G. Balasubramanian spoke about the necessity of incorporating recent technological developments in the field of communication to keep abreast with the changing education scenario. Prof. P. C. Jain and K. Srinivasan enlightened the teachers regarding the new Physics curriculum.

Father Agnel School, Gautam Nagar, held its Investiture Ceremony for the members of the school parliament, captains & the vice-captains. Rudroneel Ghosh was appointed as the Head Boy and Swagata Dey as the Head Girl. The prefects were given their badges and sashes. Principal, Father J.A. Carvalho, and Rector, Father Bento, congratulated the students and encouraged them to work to the best of their ability.

USEFI organised a workshop at Mata Jai Kaur Public School, Ashok Vihar, to provide the students with an insight into the educational opportunities available in the United States. Ms. Rupali Verma. Advisor-USEFI outlined the US education system highlighting the admission procedure, scholarships, and courses offered. She also stressed on services like visa assistance and counseling sessions offered by USE- FI to help the students. The workshop concluded with Q & A session.

DPS, Vasant Vihar, organized 'Environment Week' focusing on the four R's of conservation-Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Emphasis was laid on inculcating awareness and concern for the environment. Activities such as planting saplings, newspaper bags, poster making and collages, and competition like quizzing, declamation, debates and eco-friendly poetry and recitation were held. Himanshu- Tejwani of class VI of Amity International School, Noida, participated in the 24th Asian Pacific Junior Golf Championship held at Taipei, Taiwan. Over 160 golfers from all over Asia participated in the championship. Himanshu ranked 12th among 20 golfers in his junior category.

Under the leadership of Mrs Usha Ram, Principal, Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas, the school organized a Creative Craft Workshop. Over 100 students from across Delhi got an opportunity to learn new techniques of expressing themselves through the medium of colour. Experts from Camlin and Magic pot conducted demo classes involving parents in the creative pursuit of their children. Ms Jayantu, Coordinating editor, Vanita, gave away certificates and prizes.
