EDITORIAL

This newsletter- the last one for this calendar year- has been converted to a special issue containing all the abstract of presentation in the forthcoming international workshop on ECOHYDROLOGY being held in JNU during the month of Nov, 2001. This important event is being sponsored by UNESCO, UGC, MOEF and our ENVIS centre and invitees from a number of countries including young researchers from India are expected to attend the training workshop. Full papers of individual presentation have now been pre-published and those wishing to buy a copy may contact the publisher as per the details given at the end of this newsletter. Addresses of authors of the abstract have been posted in our web site. Hence, our usual features will appear in our next newsletter. A report on APN sponsored workshop on Himalayan Mountain Environment held in Kathmandu in October and one on WATER (Global International Water Assessment - GIWA) held in Bangkok in early November will appear in our next issue.

Another important national workshop is being organised by Prof. Brij Gopal of SES/JNU on Conservation of Rivers and Floodplains in India on Nov. 23 and 24, 2001. For details, please contact him at his address: dkb0400@mail.jnu.ac.in. This workshop is also sponsored by MOEF.
